PDF Instructions

Text documents

1. Create pdf for “print” not for web
2. Embed all fonts and images
3. Create one document with ALL the pages included in the document as single pages, NOT as spreads.
4. Include ALL blanks as necessary
5. Create the pdf to the final trim size of the book
a. If there are bleeds, allow 1/8 inch all around on every page
b. Do not mix trim sizes within the pdf
c. We do not need crop marks or registration marks if you follow these instructions

Covers

1. Create pdf for “print” not for web but we would appreciate receiving the native file, fonts and images in case we have to adjust the cover.
2. Embed all fonts and images
3. Create one document of the FLAT cover including front cover, spine and back cover
4. We always provide the ppi (pages per inch) for the paper we plan to use. If you have any question about the size of the flat cover please request a layout.
5. Create the pdf to the final FLAT size of the cover and allow 1/8 inch all around the cover for bleeds

Jackets

1. Ask for a layout so we can be assured that the jacket will accurately fit the book
2. Follow the steps above for the cover

Stamping dies

1. First of all, please remember that there are no halftones for stamping and that fine and delicate art and type should be avoided as we are applying heat and pressure to create a stamped cover.
